The Philosophy of Catholic Education Mission Statement
Department of Education - Diocese of Scranton

Our ministry in the Church as Christian educators is to proclaim the good news of God's universal love through Catholic education under the direction of the Bishop of Scranton.

We strive to be faithful to our special character: to rejoice and share in Jesus' redemptive mission through the sacramental and liturgical life of the church.

We endeavor to build a faith-community in which students can develop a sense of self-worth and respect for each person's uniqueness.

We aspire to prepare students to respond to the challenges of a changing society in the light of Gospel values through a relevant, multifaceted curriculum in the elementary and secondary schools throughout the diocese.

Saint Joseph School is a part of the education system of the Diocese of Scranton. As Catholic school educators we endorse its policies and are committed to the pursuit of excellence in education in the light of Gospel values.

St. Joseph School holds membership in the National Catholic Education Association. It complies with the regulations and requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. St. Joseph School is fully accredited by the Middle Atlantic States Association.
